i love the game so far, the character design, the visual and this ominous atmosphere, but i'm a bit confused about that basement puzzle...
i solved only one object there (didn't find a way to get the second one), then i got out of there and can't go back anymore, and after combining and using some other things i'm completely stuck and don't know what to do. so i came here read the comments say it should be solving two before get out, does it mean my circumstance back there is some kind of bug? or it actually don't matter if i got the second one, i just stuck on somewhere else?
btw i'm struggling on that puzzle could you give me a hint plz(
Sorry for the slow reply. Have you been able to remove the tree branches/vines and escape?
yes, i removed it and got the toolbox, then i can escape, but i can't find a way to get to the fuse box back there... and then i'll get stuck and don't know where to progress);
also i replayed my save files today and find another strange thing that could be a bug? i saved in map screen before the story goes to basement part, and i find there's a gate location right next to it, but it gets really weird that this gate only appears in here one time, if i enter there and get out, or goes anywhere else and get out, the gate just disappears in the map screen. i wonder if it's designed to be like that, since i could'nt find a way to progress with my current items in there.
Were you able to get the Saw from the Toolbox? This can be used in one of the locations to help collect water.
As for the gate, this is a secret location triggered when you walk on the map into the area for the first time. It should be possible to get back to the gate after the initial trigger. If not, it's a bug we could take a look at.
thank you! i got the water before but don't know where to use it and nearly forget about it, well now i tried again and that gate location still works when i click to move to it, so it seems just that location icon sometimes doesn't appear with my cursor, may be a little bug. so happy i finally get through the demo!
btw there's another thing i think may need a little improvement, everytime i double click to run, my character will (freeze) stop any movement animation while moving towards the point. it's just a small detail that won't interrupt anything except make me feel a bit off.
all in all great game! looking forward to full release (hopefully on steam too?)
This is a fantastic game, and I'm loving it, so far. The premise is strange, and I'm definitely trying to keep track of the lore, as I go on.
But, I've hit a bit of difficulty. In the warehouse basement, there are crates stacked under the window. Looking at the crates suggests that one should be able to exit through the window. The window shows the exit cursor. Left clicking the window gives its description. Right clicking the window just says 'Placeholder'.
Is this a bug? Is this the end of the currently finished portion of the game? Was I not supposed to get to this point without doing something else along the way? I'm terribly confused, but very enthusiastic about discovering more of the story.
This sounds like a bug. You should indeed be able to escape out of the window. However, this has to be after you have 'completed' the room. Were you able to solve the room's puzzle, after which this bug occurred?
Okay, I can now confirm that clearing the leftmost of the two ... blocked objects in the room makes the window work correctly. It's only behaving bizarrely before that point -- which is to say, there's no in-game suggestion that you can't use the window yet. It tells you there's an exit there, acts like it should be an exit, and just doesn't work, before that puzzle is resolved.
Hi there, it's most likely a bug, thank you for letting us know!
If you are able, could you save your game - it can be found by pressing Esc then clicking save, and clicking the new save button.
If you could kindly zip the folder located here:
C:\Users\[your windows username]\AppData\LocalLow\RBgames\The Long Road And The Forest
and send it to benjaminvanrijn(at)googlemail.com I can have a look and see if I can correct the issue, or at least get you past the point where you're stuck so you can dive a little deeper.
Appreciate your kind words as well. :)
As noted above, it turns out the window wasn't usable because I wasn't finished with the room. That said, the window behaviour is still weird, before the solve. I'm sending the savefile from before I solved the room, so you can decide if that's what the window is supposed to be doing, at that point. The fact that 'Placeholder' is still in suggests it might not be.
Thank you! I've fixed the bug and it'll go into the next build.
Hey there, I played your game, its so cool but i got a bit stuck but i hope i can get back to this and play more of it cause its interesting!
Hi, thanks so much for playing. In your inventory you need to read the book by right clicking it in this scene.
